Texas State University Star One Research Facility  I  San Marcos, TX

In 2010, Texas State University-San Marcos established the Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) Park, a research/science park. The first building on the campus - the Center for Research and Commercialization - houses research in multi-functional materials, and nurtures and captures the resulting emerging markets that are created from the new technologies. The 40 acre site is being developed in such a way that expansions of research facilities (buildings) are planned in advance. PhiloWilke assisted in developing the maximum utilization of the total acreage, and designed a 20,000 sf device research/development facility (10,000 sf build-out, the rest remained shell), with capability to expand to 36,000 sf. The park also accommodates the Alkek Library Repository and Data Center. The facility will serve as a technology accelerator for start-up and early-stage businesses, and will provide university and commercial tenants access to secure wet labs, clean rooms, and office space.
